Madison Downtown Farmers’ Market

IMG_2575

Last week I was lucky enough to stroll the Madison, WI downtown farmers’ market with Heather. The photos are fantastic, so I’m going to let them speak for themselves :)

Tomorrow

My trip to Madison is now over. I made beautiful friendships, watched a savvy wedding and fell in love with a gorgeous city.

I can't wait to recap it all for you.

Tomorrow. :)

Safe Travels

I feel like I’ve eaten traveled the country!

IMG_8042 I’ve got to make this quick since it’s 2:00 a.m. and I am exhausted. I successfully navigated the flight (including a 3.5 hour delay!), getting a rental car and finding/checking into the hotel! For me to do all this without any issues is huge. I’m known for getting lost and having to call for help. I’m a big girl now! All of your tips on my last post helped so much- thank you!

IMG_8037  I’ve eaten so much! All the different places and late hours made my appetite skyrocket. I didn’t photograph everything, but here’s some of the things hanging out in my belly:

IMG_8026Some good airport finds: an orange, au bon veggie minestrone soup and whole grain bread.

Apples and carrots I packed ahead of time…

Ryan was a lifesaver. After I found out my flight was delayed over three hours, Ryan jumped in her car to pick me up and take me to her house. She knew I needed to get a run in so we even visited her apartment gym! AND she and Evan fed me. I’m so lucky. Thank you Ryan!!  IMG_8033 I also had some chips and dark chocolate on the plane.

Even though I didn’t get to my hotel until 1:00 a.m., I was hungry again and had a Larabar. That was my belly talking.

Gosh, it feels good to be back in Virginia :)  Driving down the road to my hotel got me super-excited. I’m staying right in downtown Richmond. I can’t wait to run around here Friday!

IMG_8045 See you tomorrow!

Back to Virginia!

I’ve been back in Florida from my road trip for a few days and I’m already packing my bags to go back! More on that later :) Did you catch my posts from my road trip to Williamsburg and Savannah?

We had road trip fun in The Long Road.

Virginia, the Beautiful became my theme for the trip.

I had a fantastic experience at Bakers Crust.

Jamestown Settlement…. uh, dead animals?

Virginia is for Lovers is so, so true. I <3 Virginia.

High Class at the Shell House. Garbage pit and wine in a plastic cup? A can’t-miss-post.

We finished off a beutiful trip by Exploring in Savannah.

Sine I’ve been home I’ve been eating things like:

IMG_1488

English muffin with TJ’s roasted flax AB (!!!!!!!), frozen cherries and kombucha for breakfast.

IMG_1490

Lunches have looked something like this:

IMG_1480 Apple, banana, Larabar and Spring Mix salad with Annie’s ginger dressing, dried cranberries, frozen garbanzo beans and a tomato.

IMG_1483

Instead of buying canned beans, I make big batches of dry beans and freeze the beans in small bags. I love pouring some of the beans on top of a salad to enjoy the next day. (I make my lunches the night before.) I’ve never noticed extra water from the beans defrosting on top of the salad.

IMG_1493 Snacks have included go raw flax snax. Yummm!!!!

I just realize every bit of the food I posted is organic. I love that!

Back to Virginia!

I love Virginia so much- I just can’t stay away! ;)

Tomorrow I’m heading back to Virginia to work Richmond’s Monument Ave. 10K expo for Bondi Band. I’m super excited! If you’re visiting the expo, stop by the booth and say hi!

This is my first time traveling alone. I haven’t even been on a plane for years… much less by myself! I’ll be flying, renting a car and checking into a hotel alone. I will officially be a big girl when I return Saturday!

Any tips for traveling alone?

Exploring in Savannah

IMG_7962

Wow, Savannah is a fun city! It’s perfect for a vacation with its cobblestone streets, cool shops,  little restaurants and street life.  IMG_7958

This one day trip to Savannah was planned on our way back to Florida after a few days in Williamsburg, VA. It was nice breaking up our driving into two days. Plus, I got to explore a new city!IMG_7960 The city was so beautiful. I wish I would’ve brought my big DSLR instead of my little point and shoot! It’s okay- I’m already thinking of when I can come back!

Savannah has tons of quaint and fun restaurants. Skyler’s Restaurant drew my mom’s attention for lunch. We entered through a cute hotel, went down two sets of stairs and found the warm little restaurant.

Oh, servers. When I warn you I’m going to go off the menu and create my own salad and list all of my requests, please don’t just write “salad” down on the menu and then give me something very different from what I ordered.

IMG_7981Since I’ve been eating a ton of food and few veggies, I was looking forward to eating a salad. Below is what I got after (nicely) re-requesting the bell peppers, tomatoes and sliced almonds. Lettuce and a few cucumbers won’t satisfy my appetite!

The salad was delicious with the balsamic dressing. The almonds definitely completed the salad.

IMG_7989 The salad was delicious, but not enough to keep me full for long. I dug into my Trader Joe’s snacks as soon as we got back to the car!

IMG_7990

I also enjoyed some delicious coleslaw made with olive oil and vinegar. So much more refreshing than the mayo version!

IMG_7991

With lunch in our bellies we were ready to walk to the market!

IMG_8001

LOL- Apparently Savannah did a very good job of celebrating St. Patty’s Day yesterday!

IMG_8006 IMG_8003 We pet all the horses and the market. These babies were so soft and snuggly. Maybe I need a horse along with the cats and dogs? :)

IMG_8005IMG_8012

The family was planning on stopping for ice cream. I wanted something sweet (but don’t eat milk-based desserts), so I snuck in Cafe GelatOhhh! to check out their vegan options. They had a slew of dairy-free gelato flavors!

IMG_8009 I ordered chocolate and raspberry. Oh my goodness. It was actually so delicious that the whole family ditched their ice cream and ordered gelato! Yum!

I can’t wait to visit Savannah- and Cafe GelatOhhh!- soon!

What is your favorite city to visit? Have you been to Savannah?
