Photoshoot

What an epic Friday!
I began the day with some freelance work, a smoothie and toast with almond butter.

Several hours and chocolates later I did a quick 3.5 mile run (34 minutes). I was hoping for a swim as well, but it didn't fit in. My legs felt great on the run despite yesterday's 60.3.
Most exciting was meeting Alex for a fantastic lunch at Ethos Vegan Kitchen and then heading outside for a photoshoot!
I had the What's the Dilly, Philly? sandwich with pineapple and vegan shortbread cookies, of course.

Sometimes dressing up, even if just for yourself, is 100% necessary. Alex is a professional dancer so she is accustomed to costumes and posing. It was fun! Here are some of the results...

I laugh when I look at these photos. So much fun :) After spending so much time in the heat we needed some cool Italian ice!
The first place had no vegan options so we hightailed it to Twisted Bliss, a small shop in downtown Winter Park.
I ordered black raspberry and tropical paradise in the largest size they had! It wasn't the best I've had, but it sure was refreshing!
Do you ever do random photo shoots (even with food)?

Fishy Fishy

2.8.10 016 What a weekend! It was filled with family, farmers’ markets, Spring cleaning, lots of food and zero exercise! Hey, sometimes you’ve gotta go with the flow :)

2.8.10 023Saturday morning I picked up some fresh beets and kale from the Winter Park Farmers’ Market. I’m still debating what to do with my 10 beets. I included the kale into my veggie-filled lunch in the form of kale chips!

2.8.10 025

To make the chips: wash kale, dry, break into pieces and spread on a pre-greased baking sheet. Spray oil on kale and sprinkle with pepper and garlic salt. Bake at 400* until crispy. (Maybe 15 or 20 minutes?) Delicious! I had my chips with sweet potato fries, roasted carrots and a Dr. Praeger’s veggie burger.

I also loaded up on fruit this weekend. There’s nothing like frozen mango!

2.8.10 028

This weekend also included lots of banana bread muffins. I think these and Snobby Joes are the only reasons I bought Veganomicon! I top mine with Smart Balance.

Right around the time I got my Canon XSi, David bought the Canon 7D. Since then all he wants to do is play with our cameras. Last night we visited the park I discovered on a long run to get a few shots.

While David was in Photography World I talked to a fisherman on the dock. He educated me on the types of fish, when the best time to catch them is and the different ways to catch them.

He was so nice, but I was so grossed out watching him pierce this alive, beautiful fish and then toss it in a bucket to be his dinner. Eeek!

Because no post would be complete without a puppy pic, here;s one of Dixie laying on top of Sabrina. Poor baby!

Fun in the Photos

Remember that race I told you about? Here are some photos! Of course you don't see the deepest swamp water, narrow paths or obstacles, but you can see some of the fun!

look how silly I look in the photos above and below... behind the orange/red guy

toward the end.. please excuse.. well, everything!

From what you see in the photos it looks like I walked the whole race. I swear I ran- on dry ground!

Kayak Race Photos

As promised, here are some more photos from last weekend's kayak race. With 160 paddlers and more than $35,000 raised for multiple myeloma research, this was a great success.

I couldn't bring myself to resize any of them. Although the page might take a minute to load, you can click on any photo to view larger. Not all the photos are in order!

Look at the crazy guy standing! He is a trainer at my gym and is crazy strong!

The cutest little boy (above). He was very vocal about not going fast enough!
My love took these photos! It was fun to be on the other side of a race.
