Wear Your Bra

6:45am this morning Dixie plops her head on my side of the bed and wags her tail violently as it hits the paper bag behind her. She is up and ready to go potty outside. Still half asleep I decide against putting a bra or shoes on as I go outside. I figure I’ll just take Dixie on the side of the house so nobody sees me and then climb back into bed.

Dixie does her thing and we head inside. Uh-oh… a neighbor from down the street walking her two prized pugs (1/5 the size of my big pup) just past our driveway. Dixie took advantage of my sleepy daze, breaks loose from my hold and runs across the street, play attacking the little guys as their owner mildly freaks out.

I -barefoot, braless, hair all over the place- have no choice but to visit the neighbor across the street and harness my angel of a dog. Classy.

Great way to meet a neighbor first thing in the morning, right?!

IMG_5655 I consoled myself with Kashi Heart to Heart cereal, a banana, cinnamon and a scoop of PB.

Not having an actual day job right now means I get a fruit pop for my mid-morning snack :)

I am still sick from my dairy fiasco this past weekend. My stomach is in so much pain. Today I had a headache, too! So I ate what I wanted and what I knew would be good for me… a Flat Out wrap with PB&J and a green monster… served with a multi.

I snacked on plenty of cereal and edamame throughout the day before hitting the gym at 4pm. My belly troubles kept me from finishing my scheduled 6 mi. run so I instead got in an hour of mixed cardio. It’s amazing how a certain type of food can change the next week of my life so much.

Dinner was fantastic!!

The star ingredient was organic quinoa I picked up at Costco. This 4lb./42-serving bag was about $10. Check out the nutrition facts… this is like a wonder grain!

Quinoa was super easy to make, too. When done it was so pretty (photo doesn’t do it justice). Each little bit has a swirly stripe.. lol, make it and see for yourself!

As the quinoa was cooking in a pot I combined garlic, sundried tomatoes, fresh spinach, frozen corn, black beans, low-sodium soy sauce, balsamic vinegar and spices in a skillet. Both the pot and skillet were ready in about 15 minutes. I mixed them together and served!

IMG_5673 This dish was awesome! I am definitely in love with quinoa. It is a bit chewy, full of texture, slightly nutty and all around yummy. Tomorrow I hope to try some in place of my regular oats.

After some tennis with David I enjoyed another fruit pop ;)

And to finish off the post here is Jack.. standing on the scale stealing the last bits of his sister’s food. David and I couldn’t get over the irony!

Goodnight friends! I hope your Wednesday is lovely.

Have you tried quinoa? What is your favorite way to serve grains?
