Lesson Learned

How often do we hear that we should never go to the grocery store hungry?

I've never thought it too big a deal... until last Thursday at work.

I ran to Publix to pick up a few things for the office and I was hungry. On my way to checkout I passed the cookie aisle. I saw a bag of little cookies with the claim "whole wheat" and grabbed them thinking I could have just a few to hold me over.
Yes, the picture is fuzzy. That's because this is I saw when I was hungry!

So I pop open the bag right when I get in the car. Needless to say, a hungry Ashley + open bag of little cookies = a disaster. I ate almost three servings.

I start feeling sick. Ugghhhh.... But now that the hunger has subsided healthy ashley comes back and reads the label.
Whole Wheat! Gotta be good, right?

Sugar-free is for me!

Trans fat? Sugar alcohol?

Umm, we've got a problem. How many artifical sweeteners can you count? And Maltitol is the first ingredient? What?! Isn't Maltitol a sugar alcohol that can have a laxative effect and cause gas and bloating??!!!??!

Laxative Effect.
With three servings I definitely hit the jackpot.
Ooops.

I will never grocery shop (or "nibble") when I'm that hungry. I swear my body revolted against me for the next two days.

Has hunger ever caused you to do something silly (whether you knew the ingredients and warnings or not)?
