High Class at the Shell House

IMG_1463

Note: This and one post over are going up from the road trip after I’m already home. Lack of internet = weird posting!

I know, I know. My posts have been a bit anti-vegan on this road trip. What can I say? Seafood restaurants and small cafes are usually lacking in vegan options… and those are about the only places we’ve visited this trip! In case you’re new, please check back to see what real vegan meals look like!

IMG_1468 Nonetheless, I couldn’t resist featuring Savannah, GA’s Shell House. IMG_1465

I’m slightly embarrassed to say that one of my mom’s favorite restaurants has a pit in the middle of the table leading to a heavy duty trash can. IMG_1467 IMG_1469

I had to hold back the laughter when my mom’s “white wine” was served in a plastic cup. Come to think of it, even the silverware was plastic!IMG_1466 They did have free crackers…

Discussing the menu with the waitress was comical. She told us the green beans are canned and the corn frozen and boiled in water and butter. Mmm.IMG_1472

I ordered an extra-large house salad with Italian dressing. And tons of crackers. IMG_1476

And some of my mom’s red potatoes. Luckily I had TJ’s food waiting at the hotel for me. IMG_1479

The salad was okay, but mom’s meal was the real reason of the trip. IMG_1478Two pounds of snow crab. Oh boy.
