Bondi Band Headband Giveaway!

DSC_3696 I’m so excited to announce a Bondi Band giveaway! I’m sure you’ve been hearing about Bondi Bands around the blog world lately. Now’s your chance to try your own!img_0566

Check out Meghann and Caitlin in theirs!IMG_9235

I use Bondi Bands for:

- running marthons

- yoga

- when I don’t feel like doing my hair

- under my bike helmet or hat

- any time I don’t want hair or sweat in my face

Bondi Bands are made out of a dri fit material so they wick sweat and dry faster. There’s a special gripping layer underneath that keeps them on place on your head. They are also gentle enough to not give you a headband headache! (There are also Lycra fashion headbands that are cute but don’t have the extra gripping layers. I like to layer the fashion headbands over the gripping/wicking!)

I am giving away three Bondi Band headbands to three winners.

You have until April 4th to enter… I’ll post the winners April 5th!

To enter:

1. Leave a comment on this post telling me which color or saying you’d most want.

2. Follow @bondiband on Twitter.

3. Post about this giveaway on your blog.

4. Tweet "I entered the @bondiband giveaway on @healthyashley http://tinyurl.com/yggldgk”.

I got some terrible news about my grandfather early this morning (right as I was getting dressed for work actually). He had to go into surgery today. The surgery wasn’t too serious; it was all the factors around the surgery that made it so scary. He is now recovering in the hospital and seems to be doing okay. Thanks to everyone on Twitter who reached out with their prayers and support.IMG_8124

In light of today’s high emotions I didn’t photograph my food. Needless to say, other things were on my mind. I also had no desire to cook so I picked up a gorgeous selection from the Whole Foods hot bar. Mmmmm :)

Their granola is always a special treat I like to include :)

IMG_8127 Good luck in the giveaway!

Operation Beautiful Takes Over lululemon

IMG_8110

I remember when Caitlin first started Operation Beautiful. Operation Beautiful’s mission is “transforming the way you see yourself one post-it note at a time.” That mission is in line with lululemon athletica’s manifesto. poster_E_red_2008 lululemon says to live in the moment, because that’s when creativity is maximized. They encourage to do one thing a day that scares you. The manifesto reminds that the world is changing at such a rapid rate that waiting to implement changes will leave you 2 steps behind. DO IT NOW, DO IT NOW, DO IT NOW!

IMG_8111 Some of the wonderful people at the lululemon athletica outlet in Orlando (the store I work at) decided to bring some Operation Beautiful to our store.

IMG_8090

The magic starts at the fitting room. There are notes all over the inside and outside of each fitting room!

IMG_8093IMG_8094IMG_8096

But there’s only so much we can tell these beautiful men and women, so we encourage them to write their own!

IMG_8097Guests and employees are invited to take a blank note and cover it with their own beautiful message. We were having fun watch the notes appear throughout yesterday afternoon!

IMG_8100IMG_8104

(my note is below :)

IMG_8103

I love what we’ve done, but we’re not stopping there. We’re preparing the store’s main window to be covered in encouraging, honest notes. And we’ve done something special with our mannequins- but you’ll have to wait until the window is done to see that ;)

Josh and me

Every day I feel so blessed to work with a company that believes in empowering their employees, customers and community. Keep posted to see where we go with this! And if you live in the area, please come in and join the fun! Check out the notes others have left and contribute your own!

IMG_8108 Anyway….

IMG_8083

Apparently I’m still forgetful when photographing my food! Taking a trip and just snacking all day threw me off :)

IMG_8089 Still, I did eat a salad with a Dr. Praeger’s burger, a banana (not Eddie’s face) and 1.3 lb.’s of Whole Foods that pretty much disappeared before the camera could say hello.

Have you made an Operation Beautiful note of your own? What would you write to be included in our store window?

Food and Friends- 7 Vegan Wonders

DSC_6786

What a night last night was! First, let’s back up. IMG_1494I successfully made it home from Virginia early Saturday morning. I have traveled alone and am officially a big girl! I actually really enjoyed moving out of my comfort zone and navigating an airplane, rental car, hotel and new city alone. It was a learning experience!

IMG_1498 My diet was all over the place during my trip. I immediately indulged in some essentials when I came home: kombucha, POM,  Maqui, TJ’s almond butter and chocolate!

IMG_1504

I spent Saturday morning unpacking from the trip and loving on the animals. Then David and I laid down for a 4 hour nap! Apparently my 3-hours night of sleep wasn’t sufficient. Luckily we woke up in just enough time to head over to Ryan’s for a fun night!

Ryan and Lindsey hosted a Foodbuzz 24-24-24 event at Ryan’s house. The theme was “Seven Course International Affair Gone Vegan.” I was blown away by the creativity, timeliness and quality of their hard work! The food and company couldn’t have been better.

  • Lindsey and her husband, Ross
  • Ryan and my boyfriend, Evan
  • Caitlin and her husband, Kristien
  • Angela and her husband, Eric
  • Megan and her friend, Mark
  • Meghann
  • David and me
  • Katy W. and her husband, Lucas
  • Katy H. and her husband, Adam
  • Evan’s brother’s fiancee, Dana
  • Kelly and her boyfriend, Anthony

You can visit Ryan and Lindsey’s blogs for the details, but here’s what I saw through my camera’s lens:

First Course: An Italian appetizer of Crostini with Bruschetta consisting of tomato, basil, lemon, extra virgin olive oil, cannellini beans and a sweet balsamic reduction.

IMG_1514IMG_1520

IMG_2916 Second Course: African Sweet Potato and Peanut Soup

IMG_1549IMG_1554

Third Course: A French vegan version of a Nicoise Salad

IMG_1535IMG_1536IMG_1547Fourth Course: A simple palate cleanser of a Moroccan Mint Sorbet with coconut water, lime and mint

IMG_1575

Fifth Course: Mexican Vegan Tamales

IMG_1574IMG_1572

Sixth Course: Jamaican Jerk Seitan with Raw Plantain Chips

IMG_1577

IMG_1580

I couldn’t get over the flavor of the raw plantain chips. Usually plantain chips are just greasy and crunchy, but these were so sweet and slightly chewy! I loved them!

IMG_1582

Seventh Course: An All American, Vegan and Raw classic dessert of S’mores

IMG_1584IMG_2929

Plus a bonus course for Katy’s birthday! Lindsey made her secret-recipe cookie into a cookie cake! Yum!DSC_6801IMG_1586

I remember first talking to Angela when I featured her on here back in the day! As if meeting Angela wasn’t enough, she also brought her amazing Glo Bars to share. Thank you, Angela!! IMG_1590

I brought some Bondi Bands to share :)IMG_1562 IMG_1563IMG_1565 IMG_1567 All in all, it was a fun night with great people and incredible food. We’re so lucky to have such neat friends to share it with!

IMG_1585

After the party David and I headed to downtown Orlando to meet some friends who were in town for the day. We sat outside a cigar shop and bar in the middle of the city. Everyone enjoyed beers and cigars while I sipped on water :)

IMG_1593IMG_1602IMG_1608 What a beautiful night.
