"Find Your Grove"- that's what I tell myself during the hard parts of a run. Sometimes I want to quit so badly, but if I remind myself to find my groove I usually realize I was increasing my pace too much or not focusing on my breathing enough. Then I focus, find my groove and all is good again :)
Yesterday was David and my 3 year dating anniversary! We laid pretty low since we're taking a cruise to the Bahamas this weekend to celebrate!!!
Three years ago I randomly found David on MySpace. We began dating shortly after and have been inseparable since. I was 17 and David 19, so we’ve done a lot of growing up with each other.
Unfortunately the day wasn’t all about celebrating our love as we both had to work. I drank a huge green monster (made with some POM tea! review soon!) and munched on a granola bar while getting ready for work.
At work I enjoyed a big salad with tons of veggies and 3/4 c. black beans and two apples! When I got home I had two handfuls of dried fruit and 1/2 a naner while getting ready for a run!
I ran a great 6 miles in 1 hr. 3 min. It felt wonderful! After my run we headed out to Sweet Tomatoes for our anniversary dinner. We laughed because the first two anniversaries we dressed up and went to nice restaurants… now we’re so laid back that we dress in shorts and head to a buffet!
I got a huge salad with a big piece of multi grain bread. I didn’t get to check all the ingredient’s beforehand, but it was still pretty easy to eat vegan here.
I also had tomato basil pasta… and a little piece of their cheesy focaccia. Not vegan? I know. I was feeling deprived by not having one of those delicious little things and (although 100% happy vegan) I rationalized that it’s okay to have pieces of non-vegan food when I go out. I certainly didn’t load up on the ice cream or anything like that, but I’m still thinking about how I feel about my decision. I eat vegan because it makes me feel amazing, is great for the environment and animals and be kind to my body, but I need to figure out how much slack I want to take for times like these when I’m with my family or out to a restaurant and want a little of something with an animal product. Apparently I need to find my groove with my diet, too! I’ll come back to that later :)
I have to work tonight, so now I am rushing around like a mad woman to squeeze all my to-do’s in before then! Happy Tuesday, everyone!
